Mini reviews of Harry Potter Series

Reviews of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter serie s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Orphaned Harry Potter has been living a dog’s life with his horrible relatives. He sleeps in the broom cupboard under the stairs and is treated as a slave by his aunt and uncle. On his eleventh birthday, mysterious missives begin arriving for him, culminating eventually in the arrival of a giant named Hagrid, who has come to escort him to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry learns that his parents died saving him from an evil sorcerer and that he himself is destined to be a wizard of great power. Harry’s astonished introduction to the life of wizardry starts with his purchase, under Hagrid’s guidance, of all the tools of an aspiring sorcerer: wand, robes, cauldron, broomstick, owl. Hogwarts is the typical British public school, with much emphasis placed on games and the honor of the Houses. Harry’s house is Gryffindor, the time-honored rival of Slytherin: he beco

Da Vinci Code -Thinking Activity

' The Da Vinci Code' represents truth related to the Holy Grail. In addition it shows symbolism used in the novel.  Which in a way helps students to cultivate critical power.  Similarly,  we got thinking activity, for further details related to the task click here...   1 - Brown states on his website that his books are not   anti-Christian, though he is on a 'constant spiritual journey' himself, and says that his book   The Da Vinci Code   is simply "an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion and debate" and suggests that the book may be used "as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith."              It seems that Brown tries to put himself in the category of a pagan. But we can't deny that what he represents is quite true.  Yes,  there are so many elements which portrays his novels as An anti - Christian. As per my personal view what Brown represents is ve

This blog is about my response on online discussion on Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's Academy Award for her documentary,  "A girl in the River" Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's academy Award for her documentry, A girl in the River, has been much celebrated at home. Deservedly so.            Like her first Oscar-winning documentary, saving face, which spotlit the horror of acid attack, this too is a visceral, urgent piece of film-making. But alongside the jubilation is another view, persistent and petty, that is inevitably voiced at such occasions. Widely shared by politicians, journalists, religious leader, in short 'patriots' of all stripes, this opinion has it that sharmeen  has done a grave disservice to her country by highlighting the misery of ordinary Pakistanis to further her own career. Hence, the twitter trend: DisownSharmeen.              Why, he asked, 'had Adiga chosen not to write about the so many nice, nice things that are happ

Sense of an ending

1) How do you understand memory and history with reference to your reading of this novel. Memory                   “The memory becomes a thing of shreds and patches. It is a bit like the black box airplanes carry to record what happens in a crash. If nothing goes wrong, the tape erases itself. Therefore, if you do crash, it is obvious why you did; if you do not, and then the log of your journey is much less clear.”                  Similarly Tony peep out in his past. When his own construction of memory break through just one letter, preserved by Veronica. Therefore, it is true that Tony records what happens in past but not as it happens but as he saw. Hence, his narrative may rises questions about character and their life. What is really happened ?                  Perhaps, “yes” – this is exactly What happened. but the way it(event) is remembered, memorized and historised  is questionable. How accurate are our memories of ourselves, of other, of event in our life?  Like

Rivers and Tides - Documentary

Andy Goldsworthy makes sense-luscious sculptures entirely out of things he finds in nature — stones, twigs, leaves, plant stalks, clay, ice, snow. In this meditative 90-minute documentary by Thomas Riedelsheimer, Goldsworthy is seen working on new creations as he explains his philosophy that brings together a Zen-like appreciation of the natural world, a deeply felt connection with the Earth and all its thousand things, a fascination with time and the ephemeral existence of objects, a respect for place and all the marvels discovered within a space that one knows intimately, and a yearning to explore the energy that is running through the landscape. Sometimes his works change before our eyes and even pass away before we have savored all their mystery and magic. But to the artist, this is all part of the process.                      "Art for me is a form of nourishment," Goldsworthy says, and we see what he means as he begins to assemble

This blog is part of my academic activity. To get more information click here , How far do you agree with the India represented in the novel  The White Tiger?               The India which is represented by Adiga is poor, corrupt, uneducated and cheater also.Well I do agree that not only India but all countries in the world do have these bad kinds of problem in it.Adiga represented the darker side of India. This novel was written in 2008,after that India has progressed in many ways. But then even we cann't deny that poverty, corruption and illiteracy are vanished from India. But we can say that,India is not only what is represented by Adiga. There is also bright side of India. In bright side of India. In bright side of India many peoples are educated, rich and honest also. Do you believe that Balram's story is the archetype of all stories of  'rags to riches'?                       We can see that the stories which portrays poor

Hello Readers,                     This blog is part of my academic work. This blog is given by Vaidehi Hariyani.  Introduction             A famous philosopher Euripides once said, “Friends show their love in times of trouble, not in happiness”. The presence of friends makes our life worthwhile but it is really difficult to write a good friend who will be with us in all the circumstances of life. Friendship is one of the most important and valuable things in our life. It measures a good person. So, what definitely makes a good friend?           Friendship is essential for the successful wellbeing of every person. It is based on the simple rules of trust and honesty. A true friend is a person you can always count on when you face challenges and serious problems. He or she always offers a shoulder to cry on in case something wrong happens. Your soulmate always listens to your problems, gives you good piece of advice, and never talks behind your back. A true friend is neve
