Existentialism

Image
This blog is a part of my academic activity .To open Task click here , In these videos I liked following ideas: 1 : What is Existentialism ?                In this video three important key words are given to understand existentialism. Individuality, passions and freedom. It is a triangle of existentialism. 2 : The Myth of Sisypus(The Absurd Reasoning)                           There is very interesting quote in this video. "An elegant suicide is an ultimate work of art." Albert Camus does not only believed suicide an art, but he said it an ultimate art. He believes that suicide is philosophical problem and so who commit suicide they would have thought deeply about life. For Camus this philosophy is very important and maybe that's why he believed suicide an art.  3 : The Myth ofSisypus (The Notion of Philosophical suicide)                In this video Camus says that seeking what is true is not seeking what is desirable. The idea is same as trut

Interpretation of Robert Frost's poem "Design"

Image
"Design" poem by Robert Frost: I found a dimpled spider, fat and white,  On a white heal-all, holding up a moth Like a white piece of rigid satin cloth--  Assorted characters of death and blight Mixed ready to begin the morning right,  Like the ingredients of a witches' broth-- A snow-drop spider, a flower like a froth, And dead wings carried like a paper kite. What had that flower to do with being white, The wayside blue and innocent heal-all?  What brought the kindred spider to that height, Then steered the white moth thither in the night? What but design of darkness to appall?--  If design govern in a thing so small. Comparison:                Here we can see that how our thoughts are always being unreal. In poem there is the reality and truthness of life, struggles, symbols ,fall of life and death. The symbol of beauty is whiteness but here we can see how the white colour seems very dangerous or very frightful. The natural cyvle of lif

Interpretation challenge of Samuel Beckett's Play -Breathe

Image
Recently we watched 'Breathe' the shortest play by Samuel Beckett, to understand the concept of the theatre of absurd. When we watched these types of absurd play we feel that nothing happens on the stage but there is always something behind nothing. Nothing happens without purpose. Even our existence on the earth is for some reason.                   In the starting we hear the sound of Breathe that is connected with life and the birth is symbol of light. Play moves on darkness to light and light to darkness that also has connection with life and death. In the play we saw some rubbish kind of garbage that is lying everywhere. That comes after light it shows that when we are in darkness we cannot see the actual thing that is there in the light. And at some level we feel that our existence is also connected with nothingness. That throughout the life we do nothing just produce dirt around us. In the darkness of the mind we create thought pollution and in the

Orientalism

#Identify any 5 concepts related Orientalism from the interview of Edward Said. Here is my response, *   “Orientalism asks, how do we come to understand people, strangers, who look different to us by virtue of the color of their skin?” Orientalism questions the reasons behind the impression of any community or nation as a bad and why the whole community and nation have to suffer because of the mistakes of one or two groups from that community. As Orientalism questions our mentality that how we think about those who have different identities, mostly west considers middle-east as ‘Other’ but treat them as enemies is not good. Orientalism finds the roots of this prejudice and mindset of one community for other community. * The East as a kind of mysterious place full of secrets and monsters - “the marvels of the East,” In Western countries, the representation of East by media was in such a way that all western people were thinking about Eastern people as bad magicians and mys
